This year Astronomy Ireland celebrates its 20 Anniversary. Founded 20 years ago by David Moore, Ireland's best known astronomer, from small beginnings, the society has grown to become the biggest in the world, relative to population.

Today as well as publishing the full colour magzine "Astronomy & Space", through its multitude of activities, it performs a leading role in education, information and media publicity. The society has its own regular weekly radio slot on FM 103.2 Dublin City as well as a monthly tv program on City Channel.
