About the speaker:
Dave McCann is a keen amateur astronomer and is a member of Astronomy Ireland. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1994 with a degree in Chemistry. He went on to achieve a masters degree in Analytical Chemistry from University College Cork. Since completing his studies he was worked mostly in the pharmaceutical industry and is now an engineer with a major Biotechnology company in West Dublin. Although a Dublin native, he has seen the light and has lived in the midlands for the last four years. In his spare time he helps out with Astronomy Ireland- he was assistant editor of Astronomy & Space magazine for a number of years and has delivered their very successful evening classes in Astronomy for Beginners. He has developed a particular interest in cosmology and is here this evening to deliver a talk on the so called 'Big Bang'.
Directions:
You will find plenty of free parking spaces at either the side or at the back of the main buildings. I hope you will be able to find the entrance, as it is now more convenient to come in at the back of the building.
The Earl of Rosse theatre is in the original building, (so don't go into either the new Hospitality building, nor the John Count McCormack centre !!)
There is a new reception area being constructed at the back of the main central building, but it is unfinished as yet, but you can negotiate your way around the barriers, turn right into the glass covered passage, and then right again to find the Earl of Rosse Theatre, to the right of the Coffee Dock. We will put up signs on the evening.
