Astronomy Ireland Education and
Research Programs
**We need your help to help you**
Astronomy Ireland was set up to promote interest in
Astrononomy and Space in general and Science in particular. It
is not a government body and so exists on member subscriptions,
fundraising events and donations from individuals and corporate
bodies.
The Government has indentified a problem with a
major fall off of numbers opting to study science at University
level. This has resulted in thousands of jobs being left
unfilled in the public sector. He has suggested that science "should be
made more exciting" to our young students. Most people will
agree that one of the most exciting and awe-inspiring elements of
science is astronomy and the Universe we live in.
