Moon Watch

Wednesday November 1st

in our Headquarters (Blanchardstown, easy access from all counties via M50)

We are setting up the most powerful telescopes in Ireland to show you THE most impressive sight in a telescope - The Moon!

Most people will never get to see the Moon so close so no matter where you live in Leinster (or further afield) make sure you get along.

This event is to announce the start of Science Week in Ireland (Nov. 12-19 see www.scienceweek.ie) but the Moon (the best sight to see in a telescope) will not be in evening skies during Science Week itself, so, we're holding the Moon Watch on the first day of the month when the Moon IS ideally placed, and this will alert the country that Science Week is coming.

This event will take place on Wednesday 1st November and will begin at 8pm at our Headquarters in Blanchardstown (just off the M50) For map and directions visit: www.astronomy.ie/map

As well as several very powerful telescopes there will be a talk at 8pm about the Moon, free hot beverages, biscuits, soft drinks and sweets for children, plus magazines and other items for sale, plus advice on getting a telescope for Christmas and more! Great fun for all the family, couples, single people, in short - everyone!

All the talks and refreshments will go ahead regardless of weather and we'll show photos we took of the Moon recently so come along even if cloudy - we'll be there REGARDLESS of weather at 8pm (the event should run for about an hour but do try to arrive at 8pm for the talks).

All are welcome!! (NO CHARGE - donations welcomed as we are a non-profit club)

Come along! We will be also looking lots of other objects. A great night guaranteed for all the family! Hot drinks and goodies on the night.

The event is suitable for all ages, and we encourage families, children and adults to come along.

****SCOUT/SCHOOL GROUPS****
While we encourage scout and school groups to come along please call ahead in order to confirm if there are any prior groups arranged to come along. This makes it easier for our volunteers to enable all groups to view these amazing sights.
