ABOUT THE LECTURE:

David Grennan built an observatory in his back garden in Raheny in Dublin.  From here, using a telescope he buit himself, he has made 5 independent discoveries over the year including supernovas, the first named 212ej by the International Astronomical Union, back in 2010. His main passion however is asteroids and he is an avid asteroid hunter having discovered his first back in 2008.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

David Grennan

He is an IT professional by profession but his real passion is astronomy and the night sky, which he views from a purpose built observatory in his back garden.  Amazingly David lives in Raheny, Dublin.  You would think that living in Raheny, what with light pollution, would be a drawback but not so for David.  He has had a life long interest in astronomy encouraged by his late mother Catherine Grennan from an early age, after whom an asteroid is named.
