Topics covered
Weeks:
- Summer Astronomy and Astrophotography
- The Universe at different wavelengths
- Space Exploration: Space Exploration offers a thrilling glimpse into humanity’s journey beyond our planet—from historic moon landings to the latest missions to Mars and beyond. Using advanced spacecraft and rovers, we explore distant worlds and gather vital data that expands our understanding of the cosmos and our place within it.
- Stellar Evolution:Â Stellar Evolution is the fascinating process by which stars are born, live out their luminous lives, and eventually die. Observing stars at various stages reveals the life cycle of these celestial giants and helps us understand the origins of elements essential for life, as well as the formation of exotic remnants like neutron stars and black holes.
- Hidden Parts of The Solar System: Hidden Parts of The Solar System uncover the mysterious regions beyond the planets—like the Kuiper Belt, Oort Cloud, and distant dwarf planets—that contain clues to our solar system’s history. Studying these distant realms helps us piece together the story of how our cosmic neighborhood formed and evolved over time.
- Cosmology and Particle Physics: Cosmology and Particle Physics delve into the universe’s grandest questions—from its origins in the Big Bang to the mysterious dark matter and dark energy that shape its expansion. Combining insights from physics and astronomy, these fields explore the fundamental particles and forces that underpin everything we observe in the cosmos.
- Size Scales of the Universe: Size Scales of the Universe takes us on a journey from the tiniest subatomic particles to the vastness of galaxy superclusters. Understanding these different scales helps us grasp the true enormity and complexity of the universe, revealing how cosmic structures are interconnected across unimaginable distances.
- Quantum and Chaotic Astrophysics: Quantum and Chaotic Astrophysics explore the strange and unpredictable behaviors of matter and energy in extreme environments—like black holes, neutron stars, and the early universe. These fields uncover the bizarre quantum phenomena and chaotic dynamics that govern the universe at its most fundamental levels.
