ABOUT THE LECTURE:
“From Arts to the Stars: Blackrock Castle Observatory”
In this lecture Danielle will share her story of how she fell in love with the night sky and journey of how it became her full-time job. She will also discuss the equipment used and cover the sort of work they do at the Observatory. Blackrock Castle nowadays has an observatory and restaurant. It is open to the public and is a popular visitor centre.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Danielle Wilcox Resident Astronomer at Blackrock Castle Observatory
Danielle Wilcox works as a Resident Astronomer and Telescope Operator at Blackrock Castle Observatory, and Coordinator of Space Week Ireland. Her favorite part of her job is using the 16″ Schmidt Cassegrain Meade LX200R telescope at the observatory to gather images of blackholes and exoplanets, as well as other targets for educational resources for schools across Ireland.
