ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Dr. Martin Braddock
Dr Martin Braddock is a professional scientist and project leader. He gained his first degree in Biochemistry at the University of Salford and PhD in Radiation Biology at the Universities of Salford, Holt Radium Institute and MRC Radiobiology Unit at Harwell in 1981 and 1985 respectively.
He continued his research career as a post-doctoral fellow at the Universities of Dundee and then Oxford attaining a Royal Society Fellowship in 1991. He joined the BioPharmaceutical industry first at Glaxo SmithKline in 1995 and then at AstraZeneca in 2000 and moved through a number of positions of increasing seniority specialising in drug discovery and development for wound healing, cardiovascular, respiratory and inflammatory disease.
He has over 200 publications and is a named inventor on 8 patents. In September 2024 he founded GENIXICONSULTING LTD working with clients to help them innovate, discover and develop new candidate medicines and enabling technology. He is passionate about all aspects of astronomy and astrobiology, is a STEM ambassador and sees it as his duty to help inspire the next generation of young scientists.
He was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Biology in 2010 and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society in 2015.
