“Our Cosmic Origins”
Who are we and what did we come from? Mark will talk about the astrophysical sites where the chemical elements that make up our bodies were created. On this journey we will visit the most extreme locations and events in the universe, the big bang, the cores of stars, supernovae and the titanic collisions of neutron stars.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Dr Mark Norris
Dr Norris is a professor of Astronomy at the University of Lancashire who specializes in research into large star clusters.
Mark teaches on the on-campus undergraduate Physics with Astrophysics and Astrophysics degrees, as well as the BSc Astronomy online learning degree. He also supervises Masters by Research and PhD students studying a range of topics in Astrophysics.
